Support Services
NSR of Asheville provides residents with access to a variety of clinical recovery support services, support groups, job and educational resources that make our program a great for transitional living and long-term recovery for men.
We also offer access to an optional 12-week intensive outpatient program through Next Step Recovery for individuals who need extra clinical support to help them transition to transitional living. Next Step Recovery’s IOP can be especially helpful for men with complicated addiction histories, multiple relapses, or little experience in recovery.

Support Groups
Our transitional living recovery program is designed to immerse men in a 12-step way of life. Residents are required to attend at least four AA or NA meetings per week and obtain a sponsor. Western North Carolina has a strong recovery community and AA and NA meetings are held every night of the week at a variety of locations.
Alcoholics Anonymous of Asheville – Support group for adult men and women that uses the 12-step program to help members stay sober. 828.254.8539.

Al-Anon/Alateen – Support organization for friends and families of alcoholics. Online support available. Educational Resources. The Greater Asheville Area offers a variety of excellent educational opportunities including four-year universities, private colleges, arts and technical schools, and specialty certification programs.
Smart Recovery – SMART Recovery (Self Management And Recovery Training) helps individuals gain independence from addiction (substances or activities). Our efforts are based on scientific knowledge and evolve as scientific knowledge evolves. The 4-Point Program offers specific tools and techniques for each of the program points: Point 1: Building and Maintaining Motivation; Point 2: Coping with Urges Point; 3: Managing Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors; Point 4: Living a Balanced Life
